Gilles et Stéphanie Rieu
Chen Tong.
C’est une figure intellectuelle et artistique emblématique de la Chine actuelle. Il est également enseignant à l’Académie des Beaux Arts de Guangzhou(Canton). Chen Tong allie une formation classique et une maîtrise du trait remarquable, qui lui permet d’aborder des grands dessins liés à l’actualité : Série sur Ben Laden, Saddam Hussein… - tout en s’inscrivant dans un registre conceptuel résolument minimaliste où l’intervention portait sur le processus de création au travers de la présentation du travail préliminaire ; comme lors de la Biennale de Venise, à laquelle il a participé en 2003.
Il est aussi Directeur de la Librairie Borges à Guangzhou (Canton) ; on y trouve les œuvres complètes d’Alain Robbe-Grillet, Barthes, Foucault, Lacan, Deleuze, Sartre, Simon et bien d’autres. Chen Tong sait très bien communiquer sa passion pour ces auteurs.
Biography:
1962 born in Hunan Province, works as artist, curator, art critic, writer and editor in Guangzhou, PR China.
1983 graduated from the Chinese Painting department of Guangzhou Fine Arts Academy.
1986 – today teaching at the Guangzhou Fine Arts Academy
1987 begins to be interested in publishing, in modern literature and art.
1992 – today editing translations, as well as publications of “Encyclopedia of Experimental Art (EALS)”, and “Collection minuit”.
1993 establishes “Libreria Borges ”, where he organizes events of contemporary art and culture.
2007 establishes Libreria Borges Institute for Contemporary Art in Guangzhou
